I am a producer with over twenty-five years’ experience in the motion picture industry. Some of the films I have produced are “Gremlins”, “Innerspace”, “The ‘burbs”, “Deceived”, “Matinee”, and “Small Soldiers”. I met Monroe Mann recently through a friend who works for CNN who interviewed him for a segment about army reservists and their outside lives, Monroe being a reservist who is also an actor. I was immediately struck by his intelligence and determination to succeed. Unlike many equally ambitious young people who want to get into show business, I feel Monroe has the seriousness of purpose and work ethic to pull it off. In the few short months I have known him, he has co-written a screenplay, enlisted a professional sports organization to cooperate with the production, attached a known actor, and put the movie on the road to actually being produced. This is an amazing accomplishment for someone with no inside connections in the industry whatsoever, who has had to rely on nothing more than his own commitment and drive to get things done. I have no doubts that Monroe Mann will succeed in this endeavor and any others he sets his mind to.
To make it big, you need the Real Deal. Dr. Mann is the Real Deal
Monroe Mann inspires me, and he'll inspire you too.
This man will change your life AND your career!
You are amazing, your class is amazing, and I wish it weren’t over! I learned so much, became so inspired, it’s the class that keeps on giving even after the sessions are over! My brain clicked into this place where ideas flow more freely. It’s a lot of ‘bang for your buck’. I learned so much about business and about myself… and it’s something theatre people know mostly nothing about.
Break-Diving provides opportunities and networks that are unequal to any other platform out there. I'm very happy to be part of it.
I joined Break Diving because I truly believe that with the knowledge, support offered, and the motto; "No Rules, No Excuses, No Regrets " that one can make their own breaks.
I joined Break-Diving as someone who understands running a non-for-profit, and as a performer who has been able to make his own breaks for over 40 years.
Thanks for this group. Although I don't visit it as frequently as I should, it makes me feel really positive when I'm on it. So I know I need to visit more often, and I will. Here at Break Diving, I see people all around the world trying to make a difference. Trying to improve their lives in some way. Trying to help someone out, even if they don’t have to. I see a lot of things wrong with the world everyday, and it’s refreshing to see the opposite when I come here to Break Diving.
I loved the people in this group. Everyone really wanted to focus on getting a plan and moving forward.
The recent estimates are that 440 blogs are in cyberspace. This number has tripled in the last 5 years and it is likely that this trend will continue. Unfortunately, the end result is that there is a lot of "clutter" on the web. But, if you are willing to sift and search, you can find some gems. Case in point: Break Diving. In short, it is a group of kind-hearted, inspirational, highly motivated individuals who find like-minded and like-hearted people and share. Yes, share. Share information. Share expertise. Break Diving is a unique and ambitious platform that brings people from all around the world together for support, advice, and fun! When I first logged on to Break Diving, I immediately asked a question. My question was about acting, and having no experience in the subject, I asked "Hello all, I just joined this site and was hoping maybe I could get some helpful advice! Have I come to the right place?", and within seconds I had a friendly response and wonderful advice from Dr. Mann. It was refreshing to have someone care about me and what I wanted. Too many people nowadays get encouraged about things they are passionate about and then give up because they just don't know how, or they don't know when, or maybe they just forgot why. Break Diving reminds you why, it reminds you that you are not the only one going through tough times, and it shows you the success of others--others who not so long ago would have been in the same shoes. I also thought it was wonderful that, if needed, the services were free! No one was trying to pick my pockets or telling me what I wanted to hear to take my money! After having had such great advice I decided to consult with Dr. Mann in person (I paid, but there are free ways to consult, I just did not want to wait), getting to talk to him about my plan, what I wanted, and how I could accomplish it. He greatly raised my self confidence. All of a sudden I wasn't a lost puppy trying to find his way--I was part of a wolf pack, a wolf pack I could lean on. I am greatful and now I hope to be able to help someone like I was helped, so that in turn they may pass it on to someone else and make this world of ours a better place.
You deserve high praise. I've never seen anyone as focused as you. You're like the Tony Robbins of the acting world. You are so well polished and really have your act together. I’m glad to have someone like you, a guru, on my side… My wife likes my new attitude and air, and frankly so do I. Nothing will get in my way!
Upon receiving Monroe's first newsfeed, I was blown away by his enthusiasm, accomplishments, and drive to help others achieve. His approach is unique in that he not only truly cares, but he takes all aspects of your life into consideration in order to formulate a path that’s right just for you. He is inspiring and provides simple, but effective solutions to help you get to where you want to be. Best investment I've made in years.
I am a high school student in San Diego. I was searching for help on google with essay writing. I ended up at Break Diving, and how grateful I am to have found this amazing place. Before I knew it, I was on the phone with the founder himself, Dr. Monroe Mann (who I never heard of before arriving here), and it was an amazing experience working with him, getting direct support from a guy who not only has a PhD in psychology, is an attorney, has an MBA, ME, LLM, EMT but also is an author, speaker, linguist, world traveler, filmmaker, musician, actor, and bronze-star nominated Iraq war vet. Wow! Beyond all this, he is a noble and wonderful man who truly wants this Break Diving project to succeed, and not for himself; but for the good of others. He spent 90 minutes on the phone with me, screen sharing with my essay opened in Word, as he critiqued my essay and helped me improve my grammar and sentence structure. Most of the time, he just asked me questions, and forced me to discover the answer for myself. Sometimes he nudged me along. I had a wonderful Skype call with this man and I can say that he can grow a deep and personal connection with you like no one else can. And now my essay writing skills have improved greatly. Sounds corny, maybe, but it's true: it was an experience like no other, and I am truly honored that he helped me with my essay. I will be telling all my friends about Break Diving.
I'm excited about [having] attended the 1st Break Divers meeting. It was a gorgeous day at Bryant Park and I enjoyed meeting new 'break divers' and learning their stories. It was great to get fresh perspectives on an area I have been struggling for a long time. It was reinforcing to know that we are not alone in the struggle with fears, emotions, self-doubt, indecision and procrastination. Change becomes maneageable with a good support system. I'm curious to see where this goes. 2nd Meetup @ Coney Island: Had a great time at the beach. Thank you for the awesome and terrifying ride on the cyclone. The pictures came out great. I appreciated the career advice, taking the next steps, and your perspectives on self-publishing. It was nice to get to know you better as well. :)
I loved the people in this group. Everyone really wanted to focus on getting a plan and moving forward.
Unlike the other Fluency Project meetups, fluency is not a requirement for the Mandarin group which is great for me! I took a year of Mandarin in college and have had little exposure since then. Monroe was extremely patient as we worked through basic conversations and a writing exercise. I was surprised how much Mandarin I remembered when forced to speak. His incorporation of writing exercises makes it feel like I'm actually learning Mandarin. True to his description, Monroe is a excellent organizer and was able to talk down to my level as well as provide resources to help me along. After watching me struggle with Chinese, we flipped the tables and spoke French for the next hour over coffee. All in all, this is a great set up for people with basic proficiency looking to get all the way to fluent.
This group made me sit down and WORK-- super appreciated because there's just no other way! I really like the format because it exposed me to native French via the audio portion, in a normal pace so that we were not babied by a teacher-style slow clear pronunciation. Also getting all the time to speak made me recognize the holes in my vocabulary that I could look up later. Starting with conjugating a verb in full is a smart warm-up that sets the pace. Very focused, efficient, and effective. I also liked that in the Italian one, reading from novels introduced advanced and more poetic vocab. Basically I've never seen such a good level of pushing advanced vocab and contextual constructs.
YO! Had a great time this afternoon! Monroe, Paris, Brandon, Michelle, nice meeting y'all, and I can't wait to witness the growing of this group! P.S. SURPRISE: Monroe's gonna organizing book club events in the coming weeks, so stay tuned & COME TO THE EVENTS! It'll be FUN!
The first meeting was fun and productive, it forced me to speak Italian. That is what I wanted even though hesitant to make a fool of myself. Everyone was supportive and the atmosphere was friendly and noncompetitive. You should join us!
Very intensive and effective way of studying and practicing! I will be back for more.
Thank you for your help as I get started learning the Russian language. You are very kind. I appreciate this, what Break Diving's Fluency Project does.
